ABOUT ME
I live and work in York. I started making Rag Rugs 25 years ago, and have rediscovered them this year during Lockdown.

Angel rag rug, 2ft 10" x 4ft 7". Price £950. I made this rug during the second lockdown, when I was self isolating at home. i was inspired specifically by a wooden angel in the Jacobean baroque chapel on the Rhug estate near Corwen, by American folk and, and by Coptic tapestries. I wanted to make something warm and glowing, festive but not specifically Christmassy. Most of the cloth is wool, hooked into a hessian backing.

These 2 rugs were made between the two lockdowns... based on the cut out figures I made for an installation called Costume Drama, which consisted of approx. 35 life size paper cut figures. The costumes are a celebration of how we decorate ourselves, across continents and centuries. They are £900 each, made mainly of wool, each one approx. 5 ft x 3 ft.
This rug was made during the second lockdown, using mainly wool blankets dyed by myself at home. Dimensions : 2 ft 10 x 1 ft 9. Price £300.

This bird and the one below was made in December - lockdown meant I couldn't buy recycled cloth from charity shops, so I bought blankets on ebay and dyed them at home. this rug and the one below is mainly made from these woollen blankets. The birds come from James Audubon's book Birds of America.... I made an installation of these birds out of cut-out paper (see on my installation page). Size for this one is 2ft. 9 by 1ft 10. The one below is 2ft. 8 by 1ft. 9. They are both £300.

This rug was made for a commission - an email I received during the first lockdown, asking me to make a rug for someone who first saw my rugs in York maybe 25 years ago. This commission was the prod I needed to get me back into making rugs again.
