I enjoy using found materials like bicycle wheels, umbrella skeletons, stamps, labels etc., and cut the shapes out of thick, often hand-made paper.
I make large moving pieces as well as small works which can sit on a shelf/desk.

The above images show the wide range of my cut paper work. Themes include birds, carnival, insects, transport, electricity, the Edinburgh Skyline, abstract shapes. Some of my work is placed inside wooden boxes, where the layers overlap, like looking through a kaleidoscope.
I have started working with Japanese washi tape - which is beautifully patterned paper tape, similar to masking tape, but much more delicate. I add the washi tape to coloured acetate, which enables the light to show through, and suits the delicacy and lightness of the material. The acetate/washi tape pieces are hung from strips of bamboo.
